Synthesis of Frame Field-Aligned Multi-Laminar Structures

In the field of topology optimization, homogenization approach has been revived as an important alternative to established, density-based methods. Homogenization can represent microstructures at length scales decoupled from resolution computational grid. The optimal microstructure for a single load case is orthogonal rank-3 laminate. Initially, we investigate where singularities occur in laminates and show that laminar parts structures seek are unaffected by singularities. Based on this observation, propose method generating multi-laminar frame fields describe laminates. Rather than establishing parametrization domain, compute stream surfaces align with solve optimization problem find well-spaced collection such surfaces. Since our does not rely parametrization, also do need combing generate collection. Finally, provide synthesizing surface This produces volumetric solid each combines these form output.
